Good Friday
We arrived fairly early to the Colosseum for the Stations of the Cross. We were expecting a madhouse by the time we got there, but there was plenty of space on the grass right below where the Holy Father would preside.
It started slowing becoming more congested. Lots of sisters. Lots of habits.
Although the people kept streaming in, it wasn't too bad where we were standing. People starting filling up the hillside though.
The red canopy is over where the Pope would preside.
The Colosseum was beautiful as it got dark. Torches and lamps illuminated the landmark.
A huge cross of candles was lit behind the Papal canopy.
There was a guy waving a pole with both the Papal flag and the Polish flag. He seemed to be part of the JP2-for-sainthood campaign, but he was a bit unruly.
We got a lot of shakey photos of the Pope. The lighting was less than ideal, but we were enthusiastic.
