So we were in the final few months of our engagement, and it had become apparent that our home for the time being was going to be the Chicago area. Of course, that meant we had to cart all of Kathleen's stuff about a third of the way across the country. We had tons of help, but we also had quite a haul and bad weather. Ah, but we made it.
We rented a big Penske truck. I've moved twice with Penske, and have been very happy. And they offer substantial AAA discounts. Woo!
Kathleen's friends Lance and Andy helped us out, along with K's parents. The move-out would not have happened without them.
Kathleen takes a last walk-through of her Delaware pad.
Two days later, we arrive in Illinois, and get our first view into the new place.
Kathleen gave our first plant its new home.
The kitchen chaos began immediately.
We had to pull off doors to get stuff in.
Ben and Todd met us in Pittsburgh and helped us drive the rest of the way. They were hard workers, evidenced by Ben's exhaustion.
We got everything out of the truck, but it would be while before everything was put away.
We got Kathleen's bed put together right away though.
We enjoyed our first bottle of wine in the new place. Woo!
After all of that, we still had to move me out of my old place. I had a lot less stuff, and we moved the big things (couch, dresser, yadda yadda) while we still had the truck from Kathleen's move, so there wasn't too much left.
..got our last Willowbrook Wendy's..
..and grabbed the last of my stuff.
Ah, but we still had two showers and the wedding to go, so the influx of Stuff™ continued for quite some time. Even by the end of October, we still didn't quite have everything put away. :(
